Principal Engineer - Richland, WA

Onsite in Richland, WA *No Remote Work*

Contract: 12 Months


Principal Accountabilities:

Act as Responsible Engineer over engineering changes prepared by self and those performed by other architectural engineers.Work within a diverse team to complete various tasks to support major capital projects.Prepare and submit required information to support the development of a Preliminary/Final Safety Analysis Report and any related correspondence with Federal and State agencies as necessary to support a Construction Permit Application, Operating License Application, Early Site Permit and/or a Combined Operating License Application. This position will require at times the need to provide leadership and organization of project teams to resolve regulatory or technical issues.Participate in project meetings with nuclear technology vendors, federal agencies (e.g., Nuclear Regulatory Commission, Dept of Energy) and state agencies (e.g., EFSEC) as necessary to support successful Licensing of the technology and permitting of the designated site.Provide technical advice and proactive counsel to management on complex regulatory issues.Identify need for and initiate development of new policies, programs, plans, and procedures to meet strategic objectives Requires a Bachelor’s degree in Engineering from an accredited college or university and eight years of engineering experience in a technical environment, including two or more years’ experience in licensing and regulatory processes; OR a PE license obtained by accredited examination and eight years of engineering experience in a technical environment, including two or more years’ experience in licensing and regulatory processes.


Required Education and Experience:

Requires a Bachelor’s degree in Engineering from an accredited college or university and eight years of engineering experience in a technical environment, including two or more years’ experience in licensing and regulatory processes; OR a PE license obtained by accredited examination and eight years of engineering experience in a technical environment, including two or more years’ experience in licensing and regulatory processes. A high school diploma or GED is required.


Desired Education and Experience:

Ten plus- Years engineering experience in a technical environment, including two or more years’ experience in licensing and regulatory processes;

Nuclear experience a plus.


Required abilities and skills:

Requires advanced knowledge of NRC licensing and regulatory processes.Requires general knowledge of nuclear facility plant systems and operations, applicable to regulatory requirements.Ability to communicate effectively with all levels of the organization, external clients, and offsite agencies.Ability to manage multiple projects, programs, and issues concurrently.Ability to effectively plan and organize complex projects with changing priorities.Ability to maintain control of delegated assignments through tracking, trending, monitoring, and reporting progress
